Marc Jacobs Leaving Louis Vuitton

After 16 years at Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs is leaving the brand to pursue and focus on his own label and prepare it for IPO.

"The move to go public follows several similar decisions by high-profile fashion brands. Prada raised $2.14 billion in its initial public offering back in June 2011, and Michael Kors followed suit to much fanfare that December with a buzzed-about IPO that raised $944 million. As of late, brands such as Tory Burch, J Brand, Valextra and Furla have all been floated as the next big fashion IPO." - Huff Post reports

Bathed in black, Marc Jacob's final runway show with Louis Vuitton was symbolic of his departure and final run with the brand. A funeral, it was once described.

"Mr. Jacobs confirmed his departure backstage at the Louis Vuitton spring 2014 show in Paris. His notes in the program ended with the words: “For Robert Duffy and Bernard Arnault, All my love, Always.”" - The New York Times reports

So who will take Marc's place? Nobody is sure to say just yet but one thing is for sure, they'll have big shoes to fill.
